Recruitment project for a Scottish club

, , ,

Throughout April of 2024, I volunteered to work as a recruitment analyst for a Scottish club to help their recruitment team in identifying potential transfer targets for the 2024 summer transfer window.

With the club going through a significant stage, there was the need to recruit new players that fit with their style of play and could help the club achieve new heights in their current division. I have had the opportunity to discuss with the club’s Head of Football Operations about their recruitment and using Wyscout data to create shortlists of potential transfer targets for the 2024 summer transfer window.

Using the given data, I summarised the team’s style of play using relevant metrics for all three phases of play: in possession, out of possession, and set pieces. With the team style summary and a list of relevant metrics gathered through discussions with the club’s Head of Football Operations, I looked for players throughout the Scottish lower divisions who stood out for each metric group and for different positions that the club was looking for, while also considering the club’s available budget and values to the club.

From the project, I have been able to identify many players who have performed well throughout the past two seasons of Scottish football and recommended them to the club’s Head of Football Operations for their recruitment drive ahead of the 2024 season.
