An extension of the Vietnam data dashboard, this was an official project that I did while working with Olympic FC to assist the coaching staff with accessing data and creating visualisations. I took the lessons learned from the previous dashboard, along with more inspirations from Football Manager’s Data Hub, to improve this dashboard and adapt to fit the needs of the coaching staff. I also used this dashboard to slowly introduce new visualisations to the coaches, allowing them to pick the ones that would help them with session planning and analysing upcoming oppositions.

Using raw event data from Opta that have been processed using Pandas and Numpy, the data were then visualised through Matplotlib and Mplsoccer, and the visualisations would be pushed onto the Streamlit dashboard. The dashboard was also able to map user inputs regarding which player they want to view the data of to that player’s Opta ID.

With the introduction of this dashboard during the 2022 season, it helped Olympic maintained their top four status in the NPL Queensland while also got through to their third consecutive Grand Final. It was also helpful that I worked with a coaching staff that was very open to new information and insights gained from data, especially head coach Ben Cahn who gave me very constructive feedback and a clear idea of what he was looking for from this dashboard.
