My QUT Capstone team and I took on the project to rebrand Kashy Australia‘s customer-facing website and bring a modern touch to their website that has been hosted on a third-party provider for a while. We took inspiration from the current design of their website and redone the design with more modern components and a modern framework in React TypeScript, while not compromised the basic functionalities that have worked for the company and their customers.
The result was a front-end website that retains the structure of the previous website, but with a modern look and compatible with mobile devices and SEO-friendly. We also developed and attached a backend that connects to the company’s AWS database to streamline the website’s functionality and allow for constant update of data.
Along with another member of my Capstone team, we continued beyond our Capstone project to work with Kashy for their second website, this time focused on the internal operations of the company. Also using React TypeScript and ExpressJS, we developed a web-based dashboard that interacts directly with the company’s AWS database via MySQL queries, which removed the company’s need to maintain and update data on Excel spreadsheets. An internal application was also developed using Python for heavier and more complex operations like extracting data from PDF files or generating IDs from user inputs.
